It's taken the band several years to deliver their debut album (out later in 2010) but lest you feel they are lazy or slow it's worth noting they've constantly jumped hurdles to stave off disaster.
DC Fontana are clearly born survivors and like a clued-up species they have evolved and adapted to overcome a catalogue of catastrophes and avoid extinction.
Serious car smashes, major theft, emigrating singers, broken bones, tangled personal nightmares and things we can't even write about..the DC story would put any Brit-TV soap opera to shame!
At one low point they had every instrument, amp and piece of gear stolen before it had been insured and they had to beg and borrow to keep going.
Founding member & bass player Mark Mortimer has an unshakeable determination bordering on fanaticism which has rubbed off on those around him to give the group huge heart.
Paying their dues may be an extraordinary long process for this band but it feels like it's finally paying off with the release of their excellent first record.
DC Fontana are firmly acknowledged as one of the better known names on the 21st century global mod scene and yet their broad church of sonic sculptures majorly expands their horizons with ambition and instinct.
The net result is their dance floor-detonating sound steers clear of lame labelling and crass cultural cul-de-sac coercion.

With producer Donald Ross Skinner (Julian Cope, Prolapse, Salad, Cud, Kiosk, etc) the DCs have worked hard on the kitchen-sink drama debut album "Six Against Eight" which will be released on dctone records in 2010.
Evolutionary and revolutionary line-up changes may have kept the band's sound and ideas fresh and constantly changing but Mortimer has long yearned for a stable line up and at last feels that's been achieved.
With no less than five individual song-writers strewn across their ranks, DC Fontana are a cookin' cauldron of creation!
The band is fronted by the beguiling Karla Milton whose elegant, natural style has won her fans all over the world. And behind Karla stands a band that, like Sly & The Family Stone, is more than a group...it's virtually a family.and then some...

Having regularly wowed audiences at oodles of big shows, scooter rallies & festivals across Europe, the future's never looked so good for them and who can deny them some self-satisfaction for keepin' on keepin' on?
Together with the usual guitar-bass-drums formula, the band has, in Scott
Riley, a keyboard player who utilises an arsenal of vintage period instruments including Hammond, Farfisa and Vox Continental organs together with a Fender Rhodes electric piano.
Drummer Jim Elliot-Williams lives at the foot of the Malvern Hills and is an impulsive talent. being an inventive and dazzling drummer and percussionist.
Guitarist Andrew Wharton is the newest addition to the line up and along with Riley, Mortimer, Milton and trumpet player Steve Trigg, is one of the Fontana Five of composers.

One of the main features of the group is a sizzling horn section which has plenty of experience and youth cast across its ranks. Trumpet virtuoso Steve Trigg has recorded and toured with a number of big names in the music world including Stevie Winwood & Mick Jagger & in recent times was asked to perform on the much-publicised "Mod Aid" charity single for victims of the 2005 tsunami alongside luminaries like Ron Wood, PP Arnold, Chris Farlowe, Reg Presley (the
Troggs), Steve Craddock (Ocean Colour Scene, Paul Weller) and many more.

A two-sax attack of the superb duo Tim Nightingale & Jamie Ryder completes the horns line up though from time to time sax player Patsy Gamble or trombone player Josh Large augments the sound both on stage & in the studio.

Recently the group has enjoyed visiting several countries either for one off shows or on tour to showcase its dynamic sound, playing alongside Kula Shaker, 60s psychedelic innovators The Electric Prunes & Latin kings Pucho & His Latin Soul Brothers at the prestigious Purple Weekend Festival in Léon in Spain.

They also headlined the Paris Rare Groove Day Festival in France twice, topped the bill at the Athenaeum Cave 60s event in Greece while headlining the Beat The Clock Mod Weekender in Köln, Germany & the Right Track On The Beach mod festival in Italy.

The band won many new fans when being the main attraction at the Isle of Elba Scooter Rally in Italy and the group is a member of a tiny but exclusive club of acts to have headlined every major scootering event going in Britain including the late Edwin Starr, 80s ska hit-makers Bad Manners and mod revivalists Secret Affair. Not bad for a group who has fought tooth and nail to overcome disasters and yet hadn't recorded an album until this year!
They have also topped the bill at the Paris Mod Weekender (Fr) & the Great Goo-Goo-Magoo Scooter Rally (Ireland) and wowed a large festival audience with the Bootleg Beatles at the Malvern Showground.
